The Wairarapa Racing Club's meeting at Tauhereinkau on February 6 is to be part of a country cups series planned for the Central Districts. The series will be open to horses eligible for progressive races (0-4 wins) and to open class gallopers who have not won a race in excess of$15,000 since January 1, 2004. It will involve five heats in all??Waipukurau on December 5, Taranaki on December 27, Woodville on January 8, Tauherenikau on February 6 and Wairoa on February 13. All heats will be run for a minimum stake of $14,000 and the final to be staged at Waverley on March 5 will be worth $35,000. All heat winners will gain automatic entry to the final along with the top five points scorers throughout the series.
