It was a notable success when the Wairarapa 10-years boys' team beat Kapi Mana 12-3 in one of three junior representative tennis fixtures at the Masterton Tennis Centre on Sunday.
For most of the home team it was their first appearance at this level and they impressed not onlyon court but with their excellent spirit off it as well. Most of the team will be eligible again next season.
The Wairarapa 12-years team, who consisted of four boys and two girls, found their powerful Kapi Mana rivals more than they could handle and, despite giving it their all, lost 15-0.
The Wairarapa 14-years team of four boys and four girls had mixed fortunes. They lost 14-6 but three of their players won both of their singles matches and five of their losses came in matches decided by a third-set super tiebreaker.
