Racing at Hawkes Bay yesterday has taken out some of Wairarapa's interest in tomorrow's Wanganui meeting but there are nevertheless some likely chances among the horses remaining.
Opaki trainer Gerald Innes is planning to line up Share the Blame in race 2 - a maiden 1200m - for the gelding'ssecond attempt in a fresh campaign.
The St Reims four-year-old started at Otaki just on three weeks ago at his first race start since June and boxed on well for fourth.
A repeat of that performance could see him get some of the stake and Innes will be hoping to clear maiden ranks with him.
Later in the day Flippant, from Stacey Dougan's stable and who is also back from a spell, will contest the Rating 70 over 1340m.
The only other runners that can stake a claim in Wairarapa are the Woodville entrants Grace OMalley in the two-year-old event, Seigal in race 6 and the Gary Barlow runners McRae in the Rating 90 and Anotherchancetaken in the last.
Grace OMalley is a real chance having fought on well for fourth at Otaki, albeit in a field of only seven starters.
The filly has drawn the ace and has the services of one of the country's best riders, Lisa Allpress.
She is the only entrant from the stable of ex-pat Irishman Francis Finnegan.
The Barlow duo of McRae and Anotherchancetaken can run in the money although Anotherchancetaken is unlikely to get a start.
McRae finished midfield at Hawera last weekend on dead going but needs it to be wetter.
