Wairarapa boys on song

Wairarapa scored 15 goals while conceding just two when the Hatch Cup national primary schoolboys hockey tournament got under way in Auckland yesterday.
Ryan Pauling scored three goals as Wairarapa trounced Marlborough 7-1 in their opening game. Other scorers were Shane Hodgkiss (2), Ben Poole and Tom Harrison
It was the turn of Hodgkiss to chalk up a hat-trick when Wairarapa hammered Poverty Bay 8-1 later in the day. Pauling, Harrison, Dion Field, Bryden Henson and Mike Namana also scored for Wairarapa in that game.
Wairarapa should beat Eastern Southland in their third pool game but then will come tough assignments against Wellington, Taranaki and Northland.
