Greytown's Sarah Linton was one of the star performers in the New Zealand barefoot waterskiing squad which returned home from the Asia and Oceania Waterski Wakeboard and Barefoot Championships in Perth, Australia, with a haul of medals.
Contested by China, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australiaand New Zealand, the championships involved 110 competitors in barefoot skiing, tournament waterskiing and wakeboarding.
And the Kiwis, managed by Sarah's father, Ross Linton, were in dynamic form in the barefoot division.
Sarah Linton collected bronze medals in all her events in the women's open section, slalom, tricks and jump, and also took out the bronze medal in the race for the women's overall prize.
This was Linton's first-ever overall medal on the international stage and she was "absolutely stoked" to be able to stand on the podium with skiers who had world open and junior titles to their credit.
In the teams competitions, New Zealand came second behind Australia in the open grade with China third while the junior team achieved their first ever victory over the Aussies.
The championships were held at the Bonney's Waterski Park in Baldavis, Perth, where there are five man-made lakes all running in slightly different directions.
