Time is running out for people to get correctly enrolled to vote in the South Tararua Ward byelection.
The electoral rolls for the byelection brought about by the resignation of Tararua District councillor Warren Davidson close on September 1 and enrolling is needed to ensure voting papers can get sentby mail.
Registrar of Electors for Wairarapa Philip Parkes said yesterday only people correctly enrolled by the time the rolls close will get voting papers.
"To get your voting papers in the mail you need to be enrolled or have your details updated no later than September 1," he said.
As of now 5521 are enrolled to vote in the byelection, which will elect the new community board member for the Eketahuna area.
"People can get an enrolment form by calling 0800 367656, by Freetexting their name and address to 3676, by requesting or downloading one from the elections website at www.elections.org.nz or at any PostShop," Mr Parkes said.
He said because the details of people on the unpublished roll are kept confidential, electors on that roll should contact Tararua Electoral Officer Sandy Lowe at the council's Dannevirke office to get information on how to apply to cast a special vote.
