Voter returns for the local body and district health board elections across Auckland look to be slightly down on 1998, when about half the eligible voters went to the polls.
With three days left before polls close at noon on Saturday, 32.2 per cent of Auckland City electors had cast a
postal vote, compared with 34 per cent on the corresponding day in 1998.
In Waitakere City, the vote yesterday was 28.5 per cent, compared with 31 per cent in 1998. In North Shore City, 25.9 per cent had voted, compared with 28 per cent in 1998. Manukau City had received 29.1 per cent. compared with 30 per cent in 1998.
Electoral officers strongly advised people who want to post their votes to do so today.
