Members of an Auckland family were impressed with the readiness of Featherston's volunteer fire crew when the roof of their father's house threatened to come adrift in high winds on Saturday.
Sasha, Tuliff and Omine Ivatt had driven from Auckland to Featherston to collect ironwork sculptures when the fire crewarrived at the Brandon St address.
Tuliff was not sure who called the brigade, but shook hands with volunteer Sparky Goad, who nailed the roofing iron back down.
