Carterton firefighters will be stars of the small screen, with five screenings of the documentary All Hands to the Pump scheduled for television's Sky channel 7 and Freeview.
Inspired by the success of the Carterton Waterway Challenge team, the documentary looks at the firefighting and rescue work done by thebrigade and the day-to-day activities of the volunteer firemen.
Fire chief Wayne Robinson said yesterday the documentary, produced by Pacific Screen, follows the achievements of the team, national champions since 2007, to Australia where they competed in the Australasian championships held in Port MacQuarrie.
"But there is a fair bit on us as a brigade and our day-to-day work," he said.
Other firemen who feature prominently in the documentary are Blaine Smith, Michael Hicks and Bryan Styles.
