"It was very difficult because I had to try and do things around the house and I couldn't."
It's been three years since Mrs Playford had surgery and she still hasn't recovered psychologically from it.
"I'm still scared - they just need to give people a little time to get over what happened," she said.
"They need to do a bit more for people who have been attacked by dogs."
Mrs Playford said it was pointless for ACC to try to decrease injuries from dog bites when there are irresponsible dog owners out there.
"People with dogs need to take responsibility. If people have dogs like pitbulls they need to muzzle them, and all dogs need to be on their leads."
