WE'RE OPEN: Rozeena Sahib, manager of Aroma India, the new Indian restaurant in developer Steve Pilbrow's new shopping complex on Greytown's Main St in the former Four Square building.

The tantalising aroma of Indian cuisine will waft through Greytown's Main St tonight signalling the arrival of a new exotic eatery.

All customers will be treated to a complimentary desert to celebrate the opening night of Aroma, which is in the new development of the former Four Square building.

Discerning diners will be spoilt for choice, with an impressive 87 different dishes on offer. The restaurant is open Tuesdays to Sundays, 11.30am to 2pm and then 4.30pm to 9pm.

There will be a free delivery service to Greytown residents and delivery available for all other Wairarapa regions for a small fee.

Four chefs will serve up a vast range of traditional dishes, originating from many different parts of India.

"All four chefs are from different regions of India and are well aware of all the dishes from the south and north," said owner Mohammed Khan.

Aroma is a partnership between Mr Khan, who has had the Indian Taj restaurant in Carterton for nearly four years, and his niece, Rozeena Sahib and her husband.

Mr Khan and Mrs Sahib, who are Fijian Indian, said Mrs Sahib's husband, who is from Mumbai, India, would influence the menu, making Greytown unique from the Carterton eatery.

Mrs Sahib, who will manage the restaurant, is excited about her new venture.

"We'll have a lot of traditional indian dishes like biryani, madras and bhuna gosht and there will be a lot of new things for people to try."

Mrs Sahib and her husband moved their family from Wellington to Greytown to open Aroma, which they have been planning since late last year.

"We love it here, the atmosphere is amazing and the people here are so friendly."

Mr Khan had approached Westwood Commercial, which owns the shopping complex, as soon as he heard of the development plans.

"We told them the very first shop will be ours."

Mr Khan was looking forward to meeting new and familiar customers.
