Vandals smashed three big windows and the window in a doorway at the Waikanae Surf Life Saving club at around midnight on Saturday. The club manager is appalled that anyone could do that to any building, let alone one that serves the community like the surf club does.
Several windows at the Waikanae Surf Life Saving Club were smashed at the weekend by vandals and the club’s manager has expressed outrage at the act.
Three of the large windows facing the sea from the club’s gymnasium were broken, along with the window in a door into the clubhouse
on the beach side.
“The windows were broken by someone throwing stones at them on Saturday night,” said Kaiaponi Farms Waikanae club manager Clara Wilson.
“It’s appalling that anyone would do this, to any building, let alone one that serves the community in the way the surf club does.”
Contractors were on the job yesterday replacing the damaged windows.
