Valley crash victims airlifted to hospital

Two seriously injured people were flown by the Westpac rescue helicopter to Auckland City Hospital after a two-car smash on State Highway 1 at Dome Valley north of Warkworth last night.

A third person, with moderate injuries, was taken by ambulance to the hospital, an ambulance spokesman said.

The police said Dome Valley was reduced to one lane after the 7.30 accident.

The road was closed for a short time to allow the helicopter to collect the two patients.
