United States immigration officials warn New Zealand green card applicants to watch out for offers to apply on their behalf in exchange for significant fees.

Unsolicited emails saying the recipient has "won" a visa or a lottery "promotion" are likely to be scams, the US consular chief in Auckland, Nick Greanias, said yesterday.

Applications for the 2011 US visa application programme close at the end of this month.
