Urewera 15 appeal for jury trial

The group dubbed the Urewera 15 is appealing to the Supreme Court for a jury trial.

The trial of the 15 people on firearms charges follows the so-called anti-terror raids in 2007.

Crown Prosecutor Ross Burns says it is due to the complexity of the trial that the case is to be heard by a judge alone.

He said after filing applications to the Supreme Court, the defendants were waiting for a decision.
