Update:Traffic lights working again at busy West Auckland intersection

Traffic lights are now working at a busy West Auckland intersection, after being out for more than eight hours.

The outage led to major snarl-ups earlier today at a busy west Auckland intersection.

Police said lights went out at the intersection of Great North Rd and Rosebank Rd in Avondale after a crash wiped out the control box.

Police were directing traffic, but significant delays were reported in the area.

The lights went out after the crash around 6.30am today.

They were not expected to work again until 3pm, but were repaired about half an hour ahead of schedule.
