Unknown warrior tomb plans scuppered

Plans to unveil a tomb of the unknown warrior at the National War Memorial on Armistice Day have been dashed by a court ruling that the Wellington City Council botched the resource consent process.

High Court judge Ron Young said yesterday that the council erred when it granted land use for the tomb on the basis that its proposed site - the steps and forecourt of the memorial - was not part of the museum's heritage listing.
