Union expected 'worse' cuts at TVNZ

One of the unions representing workers at Television New Zealand was expecting the announcement of job cuts to be a lot worse than it was.

The state broadcaster says the changes to be made to its news and current affairs operations will be the biggest in about 20 years. The reshuffling will see an overall reduction of 10 roles, affecting about 15 staff.

Public Service Association national secretary, Richard Wagstaff says the union will be watching the changes closely. He says it is never nice when jobs are lost, but staff had been expecting the numbers to be higher.
