Two people serious after car flips in Rangitikei District

Two people who are seriously injured are being rushed to Whanganui Hospital after a vehicle reportedly flipped in Rangitikei District.

An emergency call was made at 7.27 tonight, alerting emergency services to the crash involving three vehicles, on State Highway 1 at Utiku.

A St John Ambulance spokeswoman said two people were being transported to Whanganui's emergency department in an ambulance.

"One other person had minor injuries but was treated at the scene," she said.

Police confirmed SH1 is blocked.

Fire services are on the scene and are in the process of extricating the occupants.

At least three other patients are receiving medical assessment at the scene.
