Two people injured in serious Hastings crash

One person has critical injuries and another has moderate injuries after a serious crash in Hastings.

The two-car collision occurred on Longlands Rd, near Te Aute Rd at midday.

A section of Longlands Rd is closed and local diversions are in place.

Police are asking motorists to please avoid the area and be patient.

The Serious Crash Unit has been advised.

Last month a teen boy riding a motorcycle was killed on a nearby road. The crash involved a red off-road motorcycle with two male riders, and a light truck on Stock Rd near Equestrian Lane.

A police spokesperson said the motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene and a teenage boy, the pillion passenger on the motorbike, was taken to Hawke's Bay Hospital, Hastings.
