Two men have been arrested for driving dangerously in the Palmerston area.
Dunedin police arrested the pair, both aged 49 and 50, following reports of two cars being driven dangerously on State Highway 1 about 6 o'clock tonight.
Other motorists told of two vehicles driving south well in excess ofthe speed limit and passing other cars on double yellow lines.
The vehicles, a 2008 Holden Comodore Clubsport coloured Black and a 2000 Holden Commodore Berlina, were each carrying five people and returning to Dunedin together from Christchurch.
Police are seeking witnesses to the unsafe driving or any further offending by the drivers.

"Coming up to the Christmas period we want to ensure everybody gets to enjoy some Christmas pudding and celebrate the festive season with all their whanau, family, clan and loved ones present," a police spokesman said.
