Two people are dead and four others injured - two critically, including a child - after a crash in Waikato yesterday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the crash on Te Kumi Rd on the outskirts of Te Kuiti at 2.12pm.
Three rescue helicopters, from Rotorua, Taupo and Hamilton, attended the crash as did multiple ambulance, fire and police vehicles.
A Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter spokesman said six people were involved in the crash.

Two people died and four were injured. Two of the injured, an adult and a child, were in a critical condition. Two more were in a serious condition.
All were flown to Waikato Hospital.
Inspector Peter Raynes of northern police communications said the crash was car vs car but he was unsure whether it was a head-on collision.
"We have a large presence at the scene and information is slowly coming back to us on what happened," he said.
A section of Te Kumi Rd, which is State Highway 3, the main road into Te Kuiti, was closed and detours put in place.
"We'll be releasing more information about the crash and where the detours are soon."
