Two injured in Marlborough crash

A man injured in a motorbike crash on State Highway Six in Marlborough has been flown to Nelson Hospital.

The 54-year-old from Tuamarina has head and chest injuries, and was one of two people injured at the scene when a motorbike was involved in a collision with a car this afternoon.

Officials say both vehicles were heading toward Blenheim when the incident occurred just before 4pm at Okaramio.

They say the motorbike hit the car, which was turning right off the highway during an overtaking manoeuvre.

The other person injured was taken by ambulance to Wairau Hospital in Blenheim.
