Four youngsters have been arrested after an elderly woman and her daughter were injured during a car-jacking in New Plymouth.
The incident led to a more than 40km pursuit, during which four police cars were damaged.
Police were called to the intersection of Rainsford St and St Aubyn St in
New Plymouth around 8pm after it was reported two men, aged 17 and 18, and two women, aged 15 and 20, pulled the women from a car and stole it.
The car was pursued along State Highway 45 after the driver failed to stop near Oakura.
It was slowed by road spikes about 40km away near Pungarehu, before stopping in Rahotu.
