Two men are in hospital with head injuries after being assaulted during the Rugby World Cup celebrations in Auckland last night.
A 38-year-old man was in a serious condition last night and a 21-year-old man had been admitted in a stable condition, Auckland District Health Board spokesman Mark Fenwick said.
They both were admitted having been injured when they were assaulted, he said.
It was understood the 38-year-old security guard was bashed outside Auckland Art Gallery and the 21-year-old man was assaulted outside The Stamford Plaza Hotel on Queen Street.
Six people were also injured when they were hit by a bus in central Auckland in the build-up to the Rugby World Cup opening ceremony.
A 33-year-old man remained in Auckland Hospital in a stable condition and a 12-year-old boy was admitted to Starship Hospital in a stable condition. A 50-year-old woman had been discharged.
