Two freed from car in Wellington after collision with truck

Two people have been freed from their crashed car after a collision with a truck in Wellington this morning.

The pair, who have been transported to hospital in a moderate condition, were trapped after the crash, which happened on SH58 at Whitby about 6.48am.

The road is still closed between Spinnaker and James Cook Drives, a police spokeswoman said.

No one suffered any serious injuries.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
