Two escape Christchurch fire

There's still a thick smell of smoke in the air after a blaze in Illam this morning

The Fire Service were called at about 7am to a house on the corner of Waimari Rd and Tudor Ave.

Two occupants of the house heard the smoke alarm and exited the house immediately.

No one was hurt and fire investigators will be on the scene this morning to investigate the fire, which started in the roof.
