Two burned in gas bottle explosion

A man and woman, burned in a gas bottle blast at a Waikato lakeside camp ground tonight, are both now being treated in Waikato Hospital, Hamilton.

The man, 27, was burned on his arms, chest and legs while his 22-year-old companion suffered burns on her face and hands.

Medical staff at the site on the western edge of Lake Arapuni where the bottle exploded said both victims were seriously burned.

The Westpac Waikato Air Ambulance flew the pair to hospital from the camp ground.
