Two bodies found in Coromandel cave

The bodies of two men have been found in a cave in an area near Thames in the Coromandel Peninsula.

The men were discovered yesterday and the bodies were recovered from the cave off The 309 Rd about 9.20pm.

Police have not revealed how the men died.

It is understood the cave is in a secluded area off the road.

Detectives from Waikato are investigating the men's deaths.

A post mortem examination of each man will take place in Auckland tomorrow.

Police said the names of the men would not be released until their families had been informed.
