Two arrested after teenager shot dead

A 16-year-old youth and man aged 20 have been charged with murder after a teenager was shot dead during a street fight in the South Auckland suburb of Otahuhu at the weekend.

Haruru Pekepo, 19, died after he was shot in the neck with a shotgun early on Sunday morning.

Police said the pair accused of Mr Pekepo's murder would appear in Manukau Youth Court today.

Police were still seeking several people and wanted to speak with anyone who was in the area near the shooting at Nikau Street, which took place at about 3am on Sunday.

The teen was shot when a street fight erupted among about 20 people, many of them drunken teenagers.

Several shots were fired, with a second man treated in hospital after being hit in the arm.
