Two men have been arrested following the death of a 27-year-old Lower Hutt man last night.
Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Cooper said police were called to a Stokes Valley around 9pm after reports of fighting.
"Upon our arrival, at the corner of George and Logie streets, bystanders were performing first
aid on the 27-year-old victim. He was transported soon after to Hutt Hospital and was pronounced dead a short time later."
Mr Cooper said a post-mortem examination on the body of the dead man will be carried out today, however it appears he suffered multiple stab wounds to the chest.
He said two men, a 20-year-old and a 22-year-old turned themselves in at the Lower Hutt Police Station and have been charged with common assault.
