The ACC controversy is arguably the biggest national scandal of the year. The minister in charge of that portfolio, Judith "Crusher" Collins, has been under fire in the media. But she says that being an MP and a minister is a privilege. "Every day is exciting as no two days are the same."

Why do you think you polarise people?

I have very clear views.

What friends do you have around Parliament? And which ones will endure beyond politics?

I get on very well with all my National Party colleagues. Ministers get together every sitting term and I'm sure these friendships will endure.

What leader, living or dead, would you most like to meet?

Margaret Thatcher.

Is there sexism in the media portrayal of female politicians and how do you deal with it?

Yes, I ignore it.

How long does it take to do your hair?

Ten minutes.

How many jackets do you own?

Thirty - and counting.

Have you ever cried at work - and if not, what makes you cry?

No. And cruelty and onions.

Who did Judith Collins, 16, look up to and want to emulate one day?

Female lawyers. Because they make a difference and I wanted to make a difference for women and children.

What are your political ambitions - do you see yourself as Prime Minister?

I aim to do the job I have to the best of my ability.

Define happiness.

Knowing that what you do makes a positive difference. Not only existing but adding value for others.

How often do you sit around the table with your husband and family at meal times?

Not often enough. I value the support of my family and friends and I always look forward to the time we spend together. We miss out on time together but I speak to my husband at least once a day and often more.

What are you fearful of - what makes you insecure?

I'm not too keen on the idea of skydiving. I can't think of anything else.
