Target host Brooke Howard-Smith and his wife Amber Peebles have sold their Auckland investment property for 40 per cent above its valuation.
The couple made a $200,000 profit - less the $30,000 spent on renovations - in under three years.
They bought 684 Sandringham Rd for $640,000 in August 2010 and sold it at auction last week for $840,000.
Its 2011 valuation was $600,000.
Barfoot & Thompson agent Ryan Harding said about 100 groups went through during open homes.
Seven people bid on the three-bedroom home, and the winner was an overseas-based Asian man. It is understood he bought the property for a family member.
Howard-Smith, 40, and TV host Peebles, 29, a former Miss New Zealand and More FM radio host, repainted the home and put in a new bathroom while living in it.
They tried to sell it in July 2011 when looking for a new place to live.
"It's on an elevated site with fantastic views so it was money well spent when they did the refurbishment," Mr Harding said.
The 1920s 106sq m stucco home has a 567 sq m section and is close to transport links. It is zoned for Mt Albert Grammar School, Edendale School and Kowhai Intermediate.
