Truck hits top of Seatoun Tunnel in Wellington

A truck has hit the top of a Wellington tunnel before nearly reversing into a bus, police say.

Emergency services are on the scene at Seatoun Tunnel, where a container truck hit the top of the tunnel heading in, a police spokeswoman said.

The accident happened at the Seatoun end of the tunnel a short time before 1pm.

The truck then began backing out of the tunnel, nearly bumping into a bus that was behind it, the spokeswoman said.

However the bus was not hit and was able to continue on.

The spokeswoman said nobody appeared to be injured in the accident.
