Disruption to power supplies and traffic flows in parts of Auckland today are the result of a truck hitting a power pole in Mt Roskill.
A spokeswoman for energy supplier Vector said the truck hit a pole on the corner of Boundary Rd and White Swan Rd at 8.40am.
Power would be switched off in 10 streets "and surrounding areas" as the pole was replaced.
A man at the scene, Evan Fraser, said the area was "mayhem" and police were trying to divert traffic away from the intersection.
A truck had clipped a power pole and driven off. Shortly after, the pole collapsed on a 45 degree angle, Mr Fraser said.
A cyclist passing the area said there was traffic was heavily banked up.
