A truck has bust into flames on State Highway 1 today in Canterbury.
The road is now closed between Orari Station Rd and State Highway 79.
Fire and Emergency NZ (Fenz) services rushed to the scene after receiving a call just before 1.30pm.
A Fenz spokespersonsaid crews from Geraldine and Rangitata were in attendance.

“Everybody is accounted for and the fire is now contained to the truck itself,” she said.
The spokesperson also said the load is not impacted.
In a social media post, the New Zealand Transport Agency said the traffic detour is north bound “via Orari Station Rd, McKenzie St and State Highway 79.”
“This highway is not suitable for heavy vehicles,” it said.
