The owner of Pahiatua manufacturing business Jackson Enterprises has moved to dismiss rumours he is about to close the doors and put 20 workers out of a job.
Trevor Jackson said yesterday the company that specialises in building truck bodies and trailers was " restructuring" but not closing.
He said he was
aware of stories making the rounds of the Tararua district that the company was to fold but that was not the case.
Mr Jackson said it was true the business was " suffering big time" from the impact of the economic downturn and had to lay off 10 workers earlier this year but closure was not to follow.
"It is all about cash flow."
Jackson Enterprises has been in business in Pahiatua since mid 1991 having started out servicing and maintaining heavy road transport vehicles and incorporating some general engineering repair work.
It has grown, and expanded into the manufacturing sector becoming a leading truck body supplier to the New Zealand trucking industry along with the manufacture of flat decks and drop sides, bulk tippers, stock decks and a host of other heavy equipment.
News that Jackson Enterprises is to continue on business will be welcomed in Pahiatua as the town lost jobs earlier this year when Bouzaid and Ballaben closed its Pahiatua branch along with its Greytown factory.
That closure stripped 18 jobs out of Pahiatua.
