Truck and trailer overturns on SH1

State Highway 1 is partially blocked after a 20-tonne truck and trailer unit rolled in the central North Island early this morning.

Police said the truck rolled just north of the Ohingaiti township in the Rangitikei district at about 3.40am, ending up across both lanes.

While cars were able to get past the overturned unit, other trucks were backed up each side of it.

The truck driver was understood to be uninjured.
