Driver dies after South Auckland truck and trailer crash

One person has died following a serious crash involving a truck and trailer in Buckland, South Auckland.

Emergency services were called to the single-vehicle crash around 7.30am.

Police confirmed the road accident was fatal with inquiries into what happened still underway.

“Sadly, the sole occupant of the truck died at the scene,” said a police spokesperson.

Logan Rd was closed between Yates and Buckville Rds after the crash.

“At this stage, the road remains closed while police examine the scene.”

Earlier, Fire and Emergency shift manager Josh Pennefather told the Herald one person was trapped and crews were working to free them.

He said three fire trucks were in attendance.

Hato Hone St John has one helicopter, an ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and one operations manager at the scene, a spokesperson told the Herald.

The Serious Crash Unit also attended.
