Netherlands-based band My Baby plays King Street Live in Masterton on Friday as part of a world tour in support of the trio's critically-acclaimed debut album, My Baby Loves Voodoo.
My Baby, comprised of guitarist Daniel Dafreez, drummer Joost van Dyke and vocalist Cato van Dyke, generate a danceable liveact "brimming with voodoo blues, trance and funk", according to publicist Mahoney Harris.
Ms Harris said American soul funk legend Larry Graham - Sly and the Family Stone bassist and pioneer of the slap pop style of bass playing - discovered the Amsterdam native trio in 2012.
The trio subsequently toured Europe last year, Ms Harris said, "bringing their delta trance show to a rapidly growing worldwide fan base".
"My Baby is a soulful and rootsy blues-informed rock band that packs a political punch and a live experience that wills you to dance and fall into their voodoo trance."
The 13-track album was released in December and the support tour will eventually take the trio from Hong Kong to Australia and the US with the New Zealand leg of their itinerary having started in Oamaru on January 25 and ending in Dunedin on March 1.
My Baby play King Street Live on Friday. Door sales are available at $15 from about 7pm. For more information go to www.my babywashere.com.
