Tributes flow for killed pizza maker

A funeral for slain Paeroa pizza maker Jordan Voudouris will be held on Monday as police continue their investigation into his death.

The Weekend Herald understands Mr Voudouris' family will be holding a private funeral for him in Auckland a week after his body was discovered face down in a pool of blood at the rear of his store on Belmont Rd.

A source close to Mr Voudouris said his family received his body on Thursday, three days after it was taken to Auckland for a post-mortem examination.

The person said the family were struggling and wanted to maintain their privacy.

A former staff member of Mr Voudouris' said bouquets of flowers, caps and cards continued to pile up in front of the store as detectives examined the interior. The woman, who asked not to be named, said she and many others from Paeroa hoped to attend the funeral service for Mr Voudouris.

"It's going to be completely private and it's in Auckland on Monday but we are still waiting for details.

"On Monday we are going to put all the flowers in a ute and take them up to the family."

A Paeroa service will be held in the War Memorial Hall on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, tributes continue to be posted on the Mykonos Pizza and Pasta Paeroa Facebook page and a tribute page called "Justice for Jordan".

Jacinta Corina asked "how could someone do such a hateful, disgusting thing to the most kind-hearted guy this town has ever had?

"Not many people are genuinely friendly to everyone, Jordan was. Not many people stay open late (busy or not) simply because they enjoy the company of anyone willing to have a good chat.

"Jordan would."

Mr Voudouris' neighbour Linda Hunter earlier told the Weekend Herald it appeared he had been attacked with some sort of weapon causing a head injury.

She found him lying face down with his arm hanging off the gate.
