The evening would "be a nice way to remember him with his music" and people were welcome to bring along any Bowie LPs.
Bowie had been one of few artists who had multi-generational influence, Mrs Higginson said.
"I love how he's changed over the years, you never know what he's going to do next -- a very clever man.
"World-wide his death has resonated with so many people."
Mrs Higginson said, growing up with his music, Bowie had made an impression on her life.
"He was so changeable and I can remember his music in different phases of my life.
"I was 7 when Space Oddity came out. I remember hearing it because my brother was really into music and I asked my sister what the lyrics meant.
"Then as a teenager I was listening to his music in our basement."
Labyrinth, the 1986 film in which Bowie plays the Goblin King, will screen on March 4 at the Wairarapa drive-in cinema, Solway Showgrounds, in Masterton.
