The Sir George Seymour National College of Tourism and Travel opens the door to the world's largest industry, tourism and travel.
With campuses in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin, the college's courses provide hands-on experience and teach computer reservations systems, customer service skills and how to promote international and
domestic tours.
Former student Sarah Chisnall wanted a career change after spending 18 years in fashion and retail.
She chose Sir George Seymour College to help her get an overview of the industry and to learn what jobs were available. She now works as a travel consultant at I-Site, a job which she got with the help of the college's student placement officer. ``The college prepared me for my new role by providing a broad knowledge of many aspects of the industry and a good range of computer skills,'' she says.
College general manager Lyndon Leabourne says employment success for students is a key focus. "Our dedicated employment liaison team is constantly in contact with employers, who recognise the value of our training.''
