Train collides with car in Marton

A collision between a train and car in Marton today left the car with significant damage but the driver apparently fared better.

Police said the incident, which happened Pukepapa Rd, was being investigated and the driver of the car was being spoken to.

While extensively damaged, the car was able to leave the scene following the collision.

Part of Pukepapa Rd was expected to remain closed for some time, police said.
