Toxin warning for Doubtless Bay shellfish

Shellfish have been taken off the menu in Doubtless Bay because of high levels of a paralysing toxin.

Northland Health has issued a warning not to take or eat shellfish from the area because of paralytic shellfish poisoning, which can cause numbness and tingling around the mouth, face or extremities, difficulty in swallowing and breathing, dizziness, double vision and paralysis.
