Unbeaten teams Eketahuna and Feilding Old Boys will go head to head in a Manawatu women's rugby Prue Christie Cup match at Eketahuna on Saturday.
Both sides have picked up the maximum four points from each of their four matches to date; Eketahuna having beaten Massey 100-0, Foxton92-0, Massey by default and Stratford 29-12. Feilding Old Boys have had wins over Stratford (29-5), Massey by default, Foxton (112-0) and Linton Army (55-5).
Eketahuna will be confident after their latest victory over a Stratford side containing the bulk of the players who will be turning out for Taranaki in the national provincial competition.
Feilding Old Boys are a young side who look to run their opposition off their feet by moving the ball wide but if the Eketahuna forwards show the same control and aggression they did against Stratford, Feilding Old Boys could be starved of quality possession.
Hard-running No 8 Emma Aldworth left the field injured against Stratford and if she is absent, Eketahuna would miss her ability to breach the advantage line. Although in Katie Turnbull they have another loosie who is virtually unstoppable at full steam.
The tactical nous of halfback Laura Gavin and first-five Rebecca Mahoney is also major plus for Eketahuna. They kept their pack on the front foot throughout the Stratford game and will be looking to do the same this weekend.
