Tokoroa hit-and-run: Police seek driver after child seriously hurt

Police are asking for the public’s help after a child was seriously injured in a hit-and-run in Waikato.

The child was riding their bike on Torphin Cres, near Woolworths Tokoroa, about 4.30pm yesterday when they were struck by a speeding car, police said.

The vehicle, described as a grey Nissan, did not stop, leaving the child with serious injuries.

The child is recovering in hospital.

Police believe the driver is a fair-skinned male with shoulder-length hair and glasses.

The vehicle’s licence plate is not known.

Anyone with information about the incident, the driver or the car is asked to call police on 105, quoting file number 260422/6148.
