The family of a 2-year-old boy killed in a tractor accident near Rotorua have told of their devastation.
Liam Schweizer died last Sunday when he was run over after falling from a tractor that his father Dominic Schweizer had been using to load silage.
In a written statement to theHerald on Sunday, Schweizer's sister-in-law Gisele Schweizer said the family was reeling from the death at their Rerewhakaaitu farm.
"Our family is understandably devastated by this tragedy. What has happened is every parent's worst nightmare."
Dominic and wife Becky Schweizer and Liam's three sisters were now "living through a nightmare".
"They are being strongly supported by their family and friends and they are grateful for the widespread support that they are receiving from their community. We would ask you to respect their privacy at this time and give them the opportunity to grieve in private."
