Toddler run over by father still critical

A two-year-old boy run over in the driveway of his Gisborne home by his father on Sunday remains in a critical condition at Auckland's Starship Children's Hospital.

The boy received multiple injuries when his father reversed his vehicle over him in the beach suburb of Wainui on Sunday morning.

He was initially taken to Gisborne Hospital, where he was stabilised before being airlifted to Starship.

Police have not released the boy's name.
