Tight fit: Truck stuck under Auckland bridge

A truck carrying a digger is stuck in the underpass under the North Western Motorway on Mountain View Rd, Kingsland.

A truck transporting a digger has found itself in a tight situation this afternoon after the tall load tried to squeeze under an inner city bridge.

An Auckland commuter sent the Herald photos of a truck stuck under a motorway underpass on Mountain View Rd, in Western Springs, just after 3pm today.

"The driver must have tried to go under [but the truck has] got a big old crane on the back and it's too tall!" the commuter wrote.

The truck, belonging to New Zealand owned company Anyscape Earthworks, was soon freed from the predicament but it's cargo was severely damaged.

"The crane is ******, glass all on the road and in the underpass," the witness wrote.

Traffic was held up for a short period.

Extensive damage was cause to the digger once the truck was released from its tight predicament.
